The Austrian Philharmonic was first minted in 1989, Both one oz and half oz bullion coins were minted. In the early 1990’s the quarter and tenth oz gold coins were also offered.


Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and raised in Salzburg Austria, which was then part of the Holy Roman Empire. He, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra are both considered national treasures. 


The Front of the coin is the image of the famous  Musikverein Pipe Organ. The reverse shows other instruments used by the Philharmonic  Orchestra.
